Various Language Building Games
Choose from three levels -
Medium, Hard or Really Hard. Listen to the word and choose the correct sounds.
(BBC Schools)
Word Wheel. This game uses three-letter
words. Decide which word the picture represents, then stop each wheel when the
correct letters are showing. Quite tricky! (Crickweb)
In
this game your child will help the school bus along its route by spelling
simple three-letter words. At each stop, it's up to your child to build a
bridge using his/her spelling skills! As your super speller moves the letter tiles,
the narrator sounds them out, helping your child spell a three-letter word to
match the picture shown. Working with letter sounds and spelling words from
scratch is a great way to practice blending and segmenting. What's more, the
bus passengers are sure to be grateful once they reach their destination.
Challenge
your child to create whole new word by changing just one letter in this switch
'em up letter game. CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words are featured
prominently in this segmenting game all about word construction. While playing,
your kid will get some essential spelling and vocabulary practice. He/She will
also build essential phonics skills as s/he identifies which letter of a word
can be replaced to give it an entirely different meaning.
Use
your knowledge of letters, sounds, and words as you try out the games and
activities.
