SNAKE: Our Class Pet

This school year, our class is extremely lucky to have Snake come and live with us. Snake is a non-native Checkered Garter Snake, distinguishable from other species of native Garter Snakes by the checkerboard pattern on his back. He is shy but friendly, enjoys a classroom that is calm with not too much noise, and likes to smell things around him by sticking out his tongue. He is also carnivorous, and likes to eat baby mice called pinkies.

We must give a big thank you to the wonderful High Park Nature Centre for the opportunity to have Snake in Room 214 this year.

Please feel free to visit and become a friend of Snake. You may even be lucky enough to hold him!
